Niveus Mangalore Marathon on 6 Nov 2022. Registrations open

The city will have a new annual event on its calendar in November – The Mangalore Marathon 2022. Starting this year, the event will be conducted in the month of November with the aim to encourage residents of Mangalore to live healthier lifestyles and improve their fitness by running.

Mangalore Runners Club, a nonprofit running club based in Mangalore announced the first edition of the Mangalore Marathon. The launch event was held at 7:15 am on Sunday 31st July at Decathlon, Bharath Mall

Akshy Sridhar, IAS, Commissioner, Mangaluru City Corporation & Prashant Kumar Mishra, IAS, MD MESCOM, both passionate runners were the guests of honor, who unveiled the logo of Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022. The official website of the event mangaloremarathon.com was
inaugurated and Mr.Akshy and Mr. Prashant were the first to register for the upcoming marathon in the half marathon category. In his address, Akshy Sridhar claimed that running is one of the most accessible sports and that it brings out the best in individuals. Running may be done anywhere, at any time of year, and requires no particular equipment. He emphasized that sport should be given the same importance as jobs in our daily life. Suyog Shetty, CEO Niveus Solutions Pvt Ltd, Jithesh Rai, Store Manager, Decathlon, Ajith A, President, Mangalore Runners Club, and Abhilash Dominic, Race Director, Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022 were present. The event was compered by Amitha D’Souza.

The first edition of the marathon titled Niveus Mangalore Marathon 2022 will take place on November 6, 2022, at Mangala Stadium. It aims to create a long-term community-focused running event that encourages athletes of all levels to run, live a healthy life, and improve their personal fitness. Niveus Solutions Pvt Ltd. is the event’s title sponsor, with Decathlon as a cosponsor. The run will include the scenic Tannirbhavi beach road, which stretches beyond the breathtaking horizon view, a shaded trail, and city highways. The event will have four categories – Half Marathon (21.1K), 10K,5K & 2K Gammath run/walk designed to accommodate all levels of runners, from beginners to seasoned athletes. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female runners in three age categories.

Running can improve one’s life and is said to be the least expensive sport available. All you need is a pair of shoes and a road or trail to get started! Mangalore Runners Club will host group runs every Sunday morning leading up to the event and will provide guidance to novice runners. About the Mangalore Runners Club:

The Mangalore Runners Club is a diverse group of runners of all ages and abilities from various walks of life in Mangalore. It was founded by a group of six people with a mutual passion for running.
